Diabetes ‘First Aid Kits’ For Schools

The Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana is proud to provide Diabetes 'First Aid Kits' to schools across Indiana.

Thanks to the generous support of our grantors and donors, kits are provided at no cost to qualifying schools.

The Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana is committed to ensuring that every school is equipped to support students living with Type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes. Through this initiative, we provide essential blood glucose testing and low blood sugar treatment supplies to schools across the state.

Phase 1 focuses on supporting schools with currently enrolled students who have Type 1 diabetes.
Phase 2 expands this effort by providing supply kits to all schools, helping them be prepared to care for any student with Type 1 diabetes.

Each supply kit includes:

  • Glucometer
  • 50 test strips
  • 50 single-use lancing devices
  • 100 alcohol swabs
  • 50 glucose tablets
  • 5 Transcend glucose gels (for severe low blood sugar)
  • Educational materials on Type 1 diabetes

This program helps ensure that schools are ready, informed, and equipped to respond quickly and effectively to the needs of students with Type 1 diabetes.
