Jenna joined the team in 2009 as a camp counselor. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Krannert School of Management at Purdue University in 2009. While at Purdue, she also worked as a Business Writing Consultant in the Purdue Writing Lab, as a Teaching Assistant, served as a Krannert School of Management Council member and chair, and began her Americorps service being stationed at a local Boys and Girls Club assisting with education. In January 2011, Jenna became the Executive Director of the organization. She is passionate about serving others with diabetes and making a difference for youth living with this disease she can relate to so well.Â
Jenna has two children, one who also has Type 1 diabetes. She enjoys spending time with her husband and kids. Additionally, she serves on the Diabetes Education and Camping Association Board of Directors, on the Diabetes Camp Collaborative Board of Directors, and enjoys volunteering with her daughters’ schools.Â

Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her husband, two boys, and dog. Together, they love traveling, cooking, building Lego creations, spending time outdoors, playing sports, and gardening as a family. Emily also enjoys reading, crafting, and volunteering at her children’s school and with their sports teams.
Kylie Powell
Program Director
Kylie joined the DYFI team in 2025 as Program Director. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2018 and went on to complete her Transition to Teaching certification in 2020. Since 2018, she has been dedicated to working with youth programming in a variety of roles, including serving as a classroom teacher. Kylie also brings a background in camp, having both attended and worked at youth camps, which deepened her passion for creating meaningful, engaging programs for young people.
Throughout her career, Kylie has worked to create programs that help young people build confidence, discover their talents, and form meaningful connections. She also founded a drama club at her former school, providing students with a creative outlet she continues to lead today.
Outside of work, Kylie enjoys traveling and exploring new places, reading, and spending time with her friends and family. While she does not have Type 1 Diabetes herself, she has become a strong advocate for youth living with the condition.
